Was the Holocaust a result of the Nazi Party Philosophy?

For an assignment, this is our topic. We are to research this topic and discuss it in deeper detail. So I have established the theory that Josef Goebbeles was the architect of the German Holocaust. He publicized the Nazi Party's ideas and beliefs ( which is the theme of the Modern History assignment ) which was their philosophy. However, does anybody have anymore detailed (preffered) information as to how the Nazi Party's philosophy caused the Holocaust because that part I haven't quite come to terms with.
