Question about Slavic surnames?

The Russian naming custom is for male surnames to end in V and female surnames to end in A. For instance, Ivan Denisov and Irina Denisova. Is that true in other Slavic countries as well? And does it apply to surnames that end with a K sound? For instance, would they use Josef Vlaschko and Irina Vlaschka?
